One of my favorite places to visit as a child was the Adirondack mountains. I would go there on the weekends and in the summertime; the drive up the winding mountain pass was always so exciting. This was because I knew what was coming somewhere around one of the bends. There would be a lookout point. This lookout point would be a place where you can pull your car off to the side and stare into the distance in wonder and amazement at the mountain range. But really the mountain range wouldn’t be that great if I was standing right next to one big rock. The thing that made it amazing was the view.
That’s why we do it. That’s why we travel distances, drive far away winding roads, or hike up huge mountains. We do it for the view! Every time we get to the top and look out we are shocked and amazed at the beauty. It’s always better than we remember.
Do you long to have different view on life than you have now? Sometimes past offenses and offenders knock us down and we get stuck in the valley.
If you want to see the view, if you want to truly move past offenses and offenders to a place of freedom. You have to ask yourself this one question.
What view do you want to see?
Do you want to see the past over and over, or do you want to see the beauty in relationships that life has to offer? I know that it’s hard. Really hard sometimes. Trust me, it’s worth the journey to pursue seeing someone from a new perspective. To see their heart.
Once you know your destination, you can begin the journey to get there. Are you willing to take the journey of a long and winding road? Hike uphill with a path full of lots of rocks and hard climbs? You are not diminishing the past but learning to forgive, but expanding your future and freeing your heart.
I promise, just like those breathtaking lookout points scattered along the ridges of the Adirondack highways, your view will be amazing !
Choose your view and then let’s set out on a journey to get there!
